Hungarian exhibition series in India

In the course of the UNESCO declared international year of the Hungarian-born Indian painter Amrita Sher-Gil, an artist who created a link between European and Asian culture a three part exhibition series has been launched with the aim of presenting the works of contemporary Hungarian fine artists.
The three stations of the series are New Delhi, Mumbai [Bombay] and Bangalore. The program is supported by MMA. The first opening was on 17 October in the Gallery of Moderns Arts in New Delhi. The curator of the three exhibitions is Attila Csáji, vice-president of MMA. He has described the exhibition series the following way: "We would like to present those efforts that show most distinctively the contribution of our culture to world culture… Such richness of Hungarian fine arts has never been presented in India before."
About one hundred works – paintings, drawings and sculptures – consist of the material of the exhibition series selected from the past 30-40 years. The exhibition has two main parts, one is an organic unit, the other is a light art unit based on the connection of science, technology and the arts. The artists include among others such names as Károly Kós, Sándor Csutoros, György Csete, Imre Makovecz, Ádám Farkas, László Moholy Nagy, Marcell Brauer, Farkas Molnár, Tamás Konok, Pál Deim, Ferenc Lantos, Attila Kovács, István Orosz, András Mengyán, Líviusz Gyulai, Péter Prutkay.
