Nation Award Committee consisting of eleven artists with the Kossuth State Awards. The award is given to provide appropriate living conditions for personalities with high artistic accomplishment and reputation.
Film director Ferenc Kósa passed away
Outstanding Hungarian film director and photographer, Ferenc Kósa, a regular member of HAA died at the age of 81 on 12 December 2018. HHA regards his death as losing one of its own.
Legacy of Sándor Szokolay
A joint press conference were held on 7 December 2018 by HAA, Legend Art Ltd., the keeper of Sándor Szokolay's legacy and the Ministry of Human Capacities on the plan and results of processing the legacy of the great composer, who was a regular member of HAA. After the death of the artist, his family took care of his legacy and now this value-preserving work is supported by the government as well as HAA. Among others, President of HAA, György Vashegyi, Minister of State for Culture, Péter Fekete and music historian András Batta participated at the press conference.
The second general assembly of HAA in 2018 was held on 22 November in the centre of HAA, the Vigadó with the handing over of Section Awards. György Csókos Varga folk artist and László Kovács cinematographer were the two personalities who were decided by the public body to be given posthumous honorary awards called postumus honoris causa, and in addition to that German choral conductor, Helmuth Rilling was chosen to be a honorary member of HAA.
Celebration of the 85 year-old Sándor Sára
World-renowned Hungarian cinematographer and director Sándor Sára, one of the Artists of the Nation and regular member of HAA has turned 85 on 28 November. On this occasion the master was greeted by the public body at an event organized by HHA's Section of Film Art and Photography at Vigadó, the centre of HAA, where one of his best films, entitled 80 Hussars (1978) was screened in a digitally renewed version and an exhibition of his selected photographs could be seen.
