Imre Benkő's subjective documentarism

The exhibition entitled True Visions in Műcsarnok (Kunsthalle), the institution of HAA is presenting six decades of art work of photographer, photojournalist and regular member of HAA, Imre Benkő through two hundred and fifty, mostly black-and-white photographs. The exhibition, curated by Zsuzsanna Tulipán, can be viewed between 23 February and 7 April.

Painter György Benedek passed away

On 29 January 2022 György Benedek, painter, sculptor and regular member of HAA died of a long-term illness, aged 88. HAA regards his passing as losing one of its own.

French state award for György Vashegyi

On 9 February 2022 conductor György Vashegyi, President of HAA received the Knighthood degree of the French Order of the Arts and the Letters. The Order of Merit serves to recognize those whose work is outstanding in the arts and literature and who have made a significant contribution to the dissemination and promotion of the arts and literature in France and around the world. The French Minister of Culture awarded György Vashegyi for his work of the rediscovery of the forgotten 18-19th century French music literature (mainly operas).

Archeologist Győző Vörös awarded by Vatican

Professor Győző Vörös, a honorary member of HAA has received the highest pontifical award for his archaeological work at Machaerus, King Herod's palace-fortress east of the Dead Sea in modern-day Jordan. Machaerus is the place where Salome danced before her stepfather, Herod Antipas, and where John the Baptist was imprisoned and beheaded.
