Imre Benkő's subjective documentarism

The exhibition entitled True Visions in Műcsarnok (Kunsthalle), the institution of HAA is presenting six decades of art work of photographer, photojournalist and regular member of HAA, Imre Benkő through two hundred and fifty, mostly black-and-white photographs. The exhibition, curated by Zsuzsanna Tulipán, can be viewed between 23 February and 7 April.

Trianon monument of Pál Kő

A Trianon monument was unveiled by three Heves county settlements: Kompolt, Kál and Kápolna, as well as three Szekler villages, Székelykál, Kápolnásfalu and Oklánd on 27 August in Kompolt. The Kossuth State Award winner sculptor - and late member of HAA - Pál Kő, who died in June this year, and his wife, the sculptor Csilla Halassy, ​​were asked to make the work. This is the artist couple's first and last joint work of art. Minister of Finance Mihály Varga also took part in the event.

Presentation of the section awards of HAA

The awards of the nine sections of HAA are given to two people each year by each section, which means that one award at least is given to an artist or art historian living beyond the border. For the winners the section award provides an opportunity for a public body membership of the Academy.

Hungarian illustrators from the 27th Bratislava Biennal

A unique exhibition opened at Vigadó, the centre of HAA, which is presenting the works of thirteen Hungarian illustrators who participated in the 27th Bratislava Biennal of Illustrators (BIB) in 2019. The thirteen illustrators from Hungary are exhibiting together twenty books with their illustrations. The artists were requested for the special display by the Institute of Hungarian Children's Literature, which is an organization committed to spread and care about the classical and contemporary, national and international treasures of children's literature.

Musicologist László Eősze passed away

László Eősze, a Ferenc Erkel as well as Széchenyi Award winning music historian, art writer and regular member of HAA passed away in the 97th year of his life. László Eősze was a musicologist, a pianist, a music writer, one of the defining figures Hungarian music publishing in the 20th century. In addition to his outstanding work on Zoltán Kodály, his international musicological rank have been based on his books and studies on Wagner and Verdi. HAA regards the passing of László Eősze as losing one of its own.
