Imre Benkő's subjective documentarism

The exhibition entitled True Visions in Műcsarnok (Kunsthalle), the institution of HAA is presenting six decades of art work of photographer, photojournalist and regular member of HAA, Imre Benkő through two hundred and fifty, mostly black-and-white photographs. The exhibition, curated by Zsuzsanna Tulipán, can be viewed between 23 February and 7 April.

Ferenc Török passed away

Ferenc Török, an outstanding architect with the Kossuth State Award and an Artist of the Nation as well as a regular member of HAA passed away on 10 September 2021, aged 84. The diverse life work of Ferenc Török is marked by a great number of Hungarian public buildings, residential buildings, monumental reconstructions and works of ecclesiastical art.

Serbian soprano won the 4th Éva Marton International Singing Competition

Sonja Šarić, 31, collected the 30,000 euros first prize and the audience award at the gala evening of the 4th Éva Marton International Singing competition taking place on 5 September. The 20,000 euros second prize was taken by Kazakh baritone Azat Malik, while South Korean tenor Jihoon Son received the third prize and the accompanying 10,000 euros award. Turkish-German mezzo-soprano / alto Deniz Uzun was awarded the 10,000 euros Éva Marton Special Prize, established with the support of HAA.

Special fence-exhibition of HAA

Formerly, in May HAA arranged an exhibition of almost forty artists at the Hungarian Academy in Rome on the occasion of the forthcoming 52nd International Eucharistic Congress on 10 September. The title of the exhibition, Don't Be Afraid was borrowed from Pope John Paul II, who in turn made use of the words of Jesus. On 2 September a parallel Eucharistic exhibition of fine and applied art was opened at Vigadó, the centre of HAA and can be seen until 10 October.

Holy Crown Lookout Tower and the György Fekete Memorial Column

On 28 August 2021 a Holy Crown Lookout Tower and the memorial column of late professor emeritus György Fekete, former and honorary President of HAA were inaugurated in Kisgyőr in a ceremonial setting. Greeting speeches were made by mayor László Kékedi and Boglárka Gál, president of the Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County Assembly. The lookout tower and the related investments were handed over by András Tállai, Deputy Minister of Finance, Member of Parliament, and the memorial column dedicated to György Fekete was handed over by György Vashegyi, current president HAA.
