The MMA Section of Fine Arts exhibits in Ljubljana

A grand-scale exhibition of thirty-three members of the Section of Fine Arts of the Hungarian Academy of Arts was opened on 1 July 2015 at the Ljubljana Castle.
The exhibition was organized within the framework of the Slovenian-Hungarian Exhibition Exchange programme under the patronage of President of the Republic János Áder.
Representatives of the Slovenian Academy of Arts and Sciences and the Hungarian Academy of Arts signed a declaration of intent in November 2014 for the mutual exchange of exhibitions with the participation of Hungarian and Slovenian artists.
The exhibition "is important not only because of the shared historical memories and experiences of Slovenia and Hungary – an exemplary site of which is the Ljubljana Castle where Count Lajos Batthyány, the first Hungarian Prime Minister - was held captive in 1849 for nearly three months. The event is significant also because it aims to highlight the cultural and artistic links that make the diversity of Hungarian contemporary art accessible and understandable to the Slovenian audience" - said arthistorian Noemi Szabo in her opening speech.
The Hungarian Academy of Arts attributes high importance to the enhancement of good relations with neighboring countries in the field of culture and art, especially to the deepening cooperation with institutions of similar kind. The Fine Arts Section of the Hungarian Academy Arts exhibits 61 works by 33 artists in the exhibition hall of the Ljubljana castle. It is open to visitors until 30 August 2015.
The exhibition by Slovenian academics entitled "Homage to painting" will be held between 9 August 2015 and 27 September at the Kunsthalle of Budapest.
