
Celebration of Éva Marton with superstars
The world-famous dramatic soprano and chair of MMA Section of Theatre Arts Éva Marton's 70th birthday was celebrated in a gala concert in the Opera House in Budapest with such superstars as Jonas Kaufmann and Grace Bumbry on 16 June.
The gala concert was an exceptional artistic enjoyment for the audience, especially because among other singers and Éva Marton's former and current students the best known tenor, Jonas Kaufmann and the American mezzo, Grace Bumbry also sang beautiful pieces in honor of the celebrated singer.
Recently it has been announced that next year in the autumn the Éva Marton International Singing Contest is going to take place by the organization of Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, Budapest.
Éva Marton has a highly successful and long career on the leading operatic stages of the world since the late 60s. Practically there are no significant dramatic soprano roles in the world that she hasn't performed in here rich carreer. She is especially known for her operatic portrayals of Puccini's Turandot, Tosca and Wagnerian roles. She retired after performing the role of Klytemnestra in Elektra in Barcelona in 2008, although she sang Klytämnestra in a staged performance of Elektra in Grand Théâtre de Genève in 2010.
