Lifework exhibition of Sándor Dévényi

At Vigadó Gallery the lifework exhibition of the 70-year-old architect, Artist of the Nation and regular member of HAA, Sándor Dévényi opened on 1 February 2019 and can be seen until 24 March 2019.
The exhibition, which have been organized by the Kós Károly Foundation and the Section of Architecture of HAA, is presenting design projects of various scales, ranging from town planning to hand designs as well as featuring a theme-based presentation of Sándor Dévényi's works, highlighting the pillars of the architect's ars poetica. Dévényi's lifework shows close connections to his birth town, Pécs, Hungary. The majority of the buildings he has designed can be found in this town, which is characterised by its own characteristic style and rich historical heritage. Dévényi's designs show unique sensitivity for a town-based architectural context featuring deeply-rooted traditions. Besides creating his own school of design through his plans of detached houses, Dévényi also had the opportunity to present his art through special commission works including town squares, renewal of historic buildings, town rehabilitation and various types of design buildings. As well as being the originator and co-founder of several significant initiatives, Dévényi is one of the outstanding masters of Hungarian organic architecture, and has earned international reputation in the field of professional discourse. With his highly complex and diverse lifework Dévényi's presence both in different professional communities and in public life has made significant effects besides the buildings he has designed.
