Hungary at the Venice Glass Week

At the Venice Glass Week on 11 September a presentation was made by Hungarian art historian and curator, András B. Szilágyi about the influence of Venetian glass on Hungarian glass art. Also on this day HAA held a professional day, where András B. Szilágyi asked glass sculptor László Lukácsi, a regular member of HAA, as well as three artists with HAA scholarships, Daniella Koós, Balázs Sipos and Balázs Telegdi about their career and the conditions for staying in the career during a round table discussion on contemporary glass art. 
The welcoming speech of Antonella Magaraggia, the President of Ateneo Veneto and of Attila Turi, the Vice-President of HAA was followed the lecture of Gábor Richly, the Secretary General of HAA. There were also two Hungarian glass art exhibitions, one at the main exhibition venue, the HUB at Palazzo Loredan, where the works of five Hungarian glass artists were displayed with the support of the Bohus-Lugossy Foundation for Contemporary Glass Art, and one at Ateneo Veneto, which was entitled Glass Art NOW!, giving a comprehensive overview of the history of glass art in Hungary, featuring historical glass objects and forty contemporary Hungarian glass artists from classic, well-known glass artists to recent graduates and young talents. The exhibitions were made possible by the financial support of HAA, the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture, the Municipality of Veszprém, the Hungarian Cultural Institute (the Collegium Hungaricum) in Rome and the Liget Budapest Project.
The Venice Glass Week is an international festival founded in 2017 to celebrate, support and promote the art of glass. The seventh edition of the Venice Glass Week took place from 9th to 17th September 2023.
