Gardens In Towns

A unique exhibition can be seen at the Gallery of Vigadó, the centre of HAA with the title Gardens In Towns showing the works of a great number of artists representing various branches of art, but all of them members of the Gödöllő Applied Arts Workhsop (GIM). Gödöllő is a town situated in Pest county 30 km northeast of Budapest. Exhibition can be seen until 10 June.
The curators of the exhibition, which can be seen until 10 June, are textile artist Erzsébet Katona Szabó, member of HAA, leader of GIM and art historian Ildikó D. Udvary. They have invited artists who were the most active during the series of exhibitions in GIM House with the garden theme in the past 20 years and they have chosen works they think are emblematic as well. GIM is going to have its 20th anniververay, so this is also a reason of the display.
According to its website "the Gödöllő Applied Arts Workshop (GIM-House) was founded in 1998, gathering professional artists of national and international renown in and around Gödöllő. The aim of the Workshop is to revive the spirit and artistic heritage of the turn-of-the-century Gödöllő Art Colony of Europe-wide reputation, founded at the turn of the nineteenth century, introducing it to contemporary art, culture, education and international relations. The GIM-House hosts contemporary art exhibitions, while the studios of the artists can also be visited. Occasionally workshop studies, sketches and works of the great personages of the late secession art colony of Gödöllő (Aladár Körösfői-Kriesch, Sándor Nagy, Jenő Remsey) are also put on display. In the exhibition hall and the pictorial garden, designed on various colours (gold, blue, purple), there are thematic events of a combination of arts; outdoor film projections, fashion shows, poetry and music recitals are held for the public. In the workshop, a thorough, tradition-based arts and crafts education (tapestry weaving, various textile techniques, ceramic, drawing, painting) is provided, tailored to each pupil's requirements in a professional artistic setting. As part of the education program, summer art camps are also regularly held. The Workshop is financed by the Gödöllő Public Foundation of New Art (Gödöllői Új Művészet Közalapítvány)."
