Nation Award Committee consisting of eleven artists with the Kossuth State Awards. The award is given to provide appropriate living conditions for personalities with high artistic accomplishment and reputation.
Ceramic Art of Hódmezővásárhely
A special exhibition of the ceramic art of Hódmezővásárhely can be seen at Vigadó, the centre of HAA until 18 March. The curator is ceramic artist Zsuzsa Pannonhalmi. According to the website of Vigadó: "Hódmezővásárhely Ceramics Symposium was established in 1998 at the initiative of the Hungarian town of Hódmezővásárhely.
Dénes Szabó received Japanese recognition
The Japanese Ambassador to Hungary, Kuni Sato handed over Japan's state award, the Order of Gold and Silver Rays of the Rising Sun to Kossuth Award winning Hungarian conductor, member of HAA and Artist of the Nation Dénes Szabó in the Kodály Zoltán Primary School in Nyíregyháza, Hungary.
Exhibition of Richárd Török in Kunsthalle
A special display of the oeuvre of Hungarian sculptor Richárd Török (1954–1993) can be seen until 18 February in Kunsthalle (Műcsarnok), the intitution of HAA. The opening of the exhibition took place on 18 January. Speeches were given by György Szegő, artistic director of Műcsarnok and Balázs Tóth, mayor of Vasvár, where the works of the artist are retained. The exhibition was opened by Ádám Farkas, Kossuth Award and Munkácsy Award winning sculptor, member of the presidium of HAA.
Satan's Bastard adapted to film
A new Hungarian film entitled Satan's Bastard based on the novel with the same title by Zoltán Mihály Nagy, member of MMA and directed by Dezső Zsigmond, also a member of MMA, was premiered on 11 December 2017 at the Urania National Film Theater. The production of the film was supported by Gulag Memorial Committe as well as MMA.
