Hungarian applied art in Israel

As part of the Hungarian Cultural Year in Israel in 2019 a large-scale exhibition of Hungarian applied art opened on 10 October in Tel Aviv. At the launching ceremony György Vashegyi, the President of HAA delivered an opening speech. The applied and design art exhibition of HAA is entitled The Art of Everyday Life, and is aiming to present the contemporary face of many genres of these art fields.

Varaždin Baroque Evenings with Hungary

The Varaždin Baroque Evenings is the most prominent music event of central Croatia and it was founded in 1971. This year it is between 22 September and 5 October and the quest country is Hungary. Among the Hungarian performers are the Purcell Choir and Orfeo Orchestra with conductor György Vashegyi, regular member of MMA, Xaver Varnus and Balázs Barnkopf, the Pannon Philharmonic Choir and Orchestra, István Kónya lute player and Baroque Orchestra Savaria with artistic leader, Pál Németh.

Cellist János Devich passed away

In his 80th year of age cellist, music teacher and professor emeritus of Franz Liszt Academy of Music János Devich died on 27 September. He was an outstanding figure in Hungarian cultural and musical life. MMA regards his death as losing one of its own.

Monograph on András Balla

Section of Film and Photography of MMA has started its monograph series on acclaimed photographers. The first volume is on András Balla and is richly illustrated with photos by the artist. The monograph, which is divided into four chapters, has been written by László Fábián. The foreword has been written by Tibor Wehner. At the book launch in Vigadó on 27 September György Szemadám, member of the Presidium of MMA talked about the artist and the book.

Cooperation between MMA and National Film Fund

The Hungarian Academy of Arts and the Hungarian National Film Fund have made a framework agreement for the long-term preservation, restoration and dissemination of the national film wealth and film culture. Under the cooperation agreement signed on 22 August 2017 MMA contributes to the long-term digitalization and renovation program of the Hungarian National Film Archive, which operates as the directorship of the Film Fund.
