HAA held a renewal assembly

On 7 September 2020 HAA held its general assembly at its headquarters in Vigadó, where the public body awards were handed over and the composition of the new presidency, which will take effect on 5 November, was decided by academicians and members of the general assembly. György Vashegyi remained the President of HAA and Marcell Jankovics was elected Honorary President.

With the title, A Catch in Autumn a life-work exhibition of András M. Novák fine artist and regular member of HAA can be seen from 2 October until 10 November at Vigadó, the centre of HAA.

Hungarian art at the Gwangju Biennale

At the Gwangju Biennale starting from 8 October and lasting until 17 November Hungary is a special quest besides Denmark. The Gwangju Biennale is a contemporary art biennale founded in September 1995 in the city of Gwangju in South Korea. The almost 70 pieces of Hungarian artisans and applied artist are presented according to the concept of curator Ernő Szarka. At the opening ceremony Secretary-General of HAA, Tamás Gergely Kucsera and Head of Department, Ágnes Komlóssy were present.  The Hungarian Day is to be on 26 October and on this event HAA is to be represented by Ernő Szarka and chair of section of applied arts and design, István Szenes.

Composer Miklós Kocsár passed away

Artist of the Nation and member of HAA, Miklós Kocsár passed away on 29 August aged 86. HAA and the Ministry of Human Capacities highly appreciate his lifework and safeguard his heritage. Miklós Kocsár was one of the best-known, most productive and popular figures of Hungarian contemporary composers. Most of his works are choral pieces, but he also wrote concertos and instrumental solo pieces.

Theatrical director László Marton passed away

László Marton, Kossuth State Award-winner director, former manager and lead theatrical director of the Vígszínház Theatre in Budapest as well as a corresponding member of HAA died on 12 September aged 76 following a long illness. HAA is regarding his passing away as losing one of its own.
