Imre Benkő's subjective documentarism

The exhibition entitled True Visions in Műcsarnok (Kunsthalle), the institution of HAA is presenting six decades of art work of photographer, photojournalist and regular member of HAA, Imre Benkő through two hundred and fifty, mostly black-and-white photographs. The exhibition, curated by Zsuzsanna Tulipán, can be viewed between 23 February and 7 April.

Hungarian is the best opera album of 2021

The French baroque composer Michel Pignolet de Montéclair's Jephté is an exciting rediscovery performed by the Orfeo Orchestra and the Purcell Choir under conductor György Vashegyi, the President of HAA, moreover, the album published by Glossa was selected as the best opera recording of the year by Limelight Magazine. The opera is based on the biblical story of Jephthah, a general who is trapped by a vow into sacrificing his own daughter.

Samu Benkő passed away

Samu Benkő, Széchenyi Award winning Transylvanian Hungarian cultural historian, outstanding figure of Bolyai Research, regular member of HAA and external member of Hungarian Academy of Sciences passed away on 21 December 2021, aged 93.

Posterra - V4 travelling poster exhibition

Vigado: 2021.12.07. - 2022.02.06
In commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the establishing of the Visegrad Group, the international poster exhibition arranged by HAA is presenting selected works made by outstanding poster artists of the V4 countries. Through the works of three Hungarian, three Polish, three Czech and three Slovak artists the exhibition is showing the history of cultural posters featuring national characteristics and symbols.

János Gulyás passed away

János Gulyás, a Kossuth Award as well as Béla Balázs Awards winning film director, cinematographer and a regular member of HAA died at the age of 75. HAA regards the passing of János Gulyás as losing one of its own.
