Architect Endre Szűcs passed away

Miklós Ybl Prize winning architect Endre Szűcs passed away aged 80 He was a regular member of the Hungarian Academy of Arts. He felt that Bartók's principle was his own, according to which one should only draw from a pure source, which in his case was folk art. For this Endre Szűcs collected memories from the Balaton highlands to Gyimes. He was aware that the memories of the past can only be successfully passed on if the monument is put to use, so it must always be reconstructed in accordance with the needs of the modern age. This gave rise to his creative architecture. HAA regards the passing of Endré Szűcs as losing one of its own.
