Art historian Katalin Dávid celebrating her hundredth birthday

On 16 August Katalin Dávid, the Széchenyi Grand Prize winner, internationally renowned art historian, art writer and regular member of HAA became a centenarian. In her best-known works the epoch-making figure in the history of Christian culture in Hungary explored the world of Christian iconography and biblical symbols.

Györkös 100

An exhibition entitled Györkös 100 featuring the works of Transylvanian painter Mányi Albert Györkös opened in the New Gallery of the Romanian National Peasant Museum in Bucharest on the occasion of Hungary's national holiday. The exhibition is part of a series of exhibitions and events organized by the Mányi Albert Györkös Memorial House of the Transylvanian Hungarian Public Culture Association in Cluj-Napoca and the Sepsiszentgyörgy center of the Liszt Institute for the 100th anniversary of the painter's birth. The main supporter of the exhibition is the Hungarian Academy of Arts.

Four new Artists of the Nation

In 2022 four artists won the Artist of the Nation Award, the most prestigious Hungarian art award, which the awardees received on 3 November from György Vashegyi, the President of HAA at the centre of HAArts, the Vigadó. The Artist of the Nation Award Committee bestowed the award to cinematographer and director Sándor Kardos, architect György Kévés, painter and graphic artist László Lakner, honorary member of HAA as well as dancer and choreographer Zoltán Zsuráfszky, regular member of HAA.

Book about the life of Gábor Csupó

The biographical volume entitled From the Pannónia Stúdió to the Hollywood Start is about the adventures and challenging life of Gábor Csupó, a world-famous animator, which was presented on 27 September on the occasion of Gábor Csupó's 70th birthday by the book's publishers, the HHA's Institute of Art Theory (MMA MMKI) and Methodology, FilmHungary and the Moholy-Nagy University of Arts, which hosted the event. The publication was published as part of the FilmHungary's series entitled Hungarians in Hollywood.

Miklós Melocco's monument in honor of the medal winners of the Helsinki Olympics

"It was the only free cry of the Hungarian people", reads in gilded letters on the new work of sculptor Miklós Melocco, Artist of the Nation and regular member of HAA. The limestone monument in honor of the 42 medalists (16 gold, 10 silver, 16 bronze) of the 1952 Helsinki Olympics was unveiled in the park of the athletics center in Székesfehérvár on 11 October.
