Péter Prutkay passed away
Munkácsy Mihály Award winning fine artist Péter Prutkay passed away on 6 June at the age of 75 after a lingering illness. He was a regular member of HHA, which regards his passing as losing one of its own.

A statue of Károly Kós unveiled in Kolozsvár
The new statue is the work of the Kossuth and Munkácsy Award winner sculptor Ádám Farkas, who is an Artist of the Nation as well as a board member of HAA. It depicts the Transylvanian polyhistor and the father of Transylvanism in a sitting position in an armchair carved by himself, holding in one hand some scrolls with the layout of the church, with the other hand showing up to the tower in the courtyard of the Church with the Rooster in Kolozsvár (Cluj Napoca). This is the first full-size statue of Károly Kós in Transylvania.

Art and science are complementary
The third event of the series entitled Art Evenings at the Academy of The Hungarian Academy of Sciences and of the Academic Club Association was held on 23 May at the headquarters of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. On this occasion the co-organizers were HAA and the Haydneum, the Hungarian Early Music Center. The evening was opened by Tamás Freund, President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Szilveszter E. Vizi, President of the Academic Club Association, former President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, President of the Social Advisory Board of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences as well as György Vashegyi, President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

Péter Haumann passed away
One of the greatest Hungarian actors of our time, Péter Haumann passed away on 28 May aged 81. He was a regular member of HAA and an Actor of the Nation. Péter Haumann was an incomparable artist of Hungarian theater and film. As a uniquely versatile artist besides his comedy characters with special humor he also achieved memorable success with his dramatic performances. HAA regards his passing as losing one of its own.
