Imre Benkő's subjective documentarism

The exhibition entitled True Visions in Műcsarnok (Kunsthalle), the institution of HAA is presenting six decades of art work of photographer, photojournalist and regular member of HAA, Imre Benkő through two hundred and fifty, mostly black-and-white photographs. The exhibition, curated by Zsuzsanna Tulipán, can be viewed between 23 February and 7 April.

József Scherer passed away

József Scherer, outstanding design artist, winner of Noémi Ferenczy Award, retired university professor and regular member of HAA passed away on 2 May 2020, aged 72.

GYÖRGY VASHEGYI ABOUT GYÖRGY FEKETE

It is seldom given in the life of a cultural politician that the creation of two dominant cultural institutions have been tied to his name. György Fekete was given this: he was one of the founders, then the first president of the National Cultural Fund, then almost two decades later he was instrumental when the Hungarian Academy of Arts became a public body, and he was its president for two terms. We asked György Vashegyi, who followed him in this post in 2017.

National Salon of Fine Arts a second time

In the series of the National Salons in Kunsthalle, the institution of HAA the 2nd National Salon of Fine Arts can now be seen in virtual form. The exhibition comprises of the newest works of about 200 artists from paintings, sculptures and videos to installations.

Gábor Turányi passed away

Shortly before his 72th birthday on 26 March 2020 Gábor Turányi, one of the greatest Hungarian architects of his generation, member of HAA and of Széchenyi Academy of Literature and Art (SZIMA) as well as professor of Moholy-Nagy University of Art (MOME) unexpectedly passed away. HAA regards his passing as losing one of its own.
