Synagogue heritage in Hungary

In 2021 Stuttgart is to host a great number of events in the Brotherhood Week program series, and at the request of the Liszt Institute, the Hungarian Cultural Centre in Stuttgart, HAA as well as the Hungarian Museum of Architecture and the Monument Protection Documentation Centre have made an exhibition on the synagogue heritage of Hungary.
The exhibition - entitled Build Me a Shelter! - Hungarian Synagogues and their Communities – is presenting the sacred architecture of Hungarian Jewry displaying the peculiarities of the genre, the building communities and their history, selected from buildings of nearly a millennium.
A bilingual, Hungarian-German publication richly illustrated with pictures was also arranged for the exhibition. The curator of the exhibition presenting Hungarian synagogue architecture is dr Ágnes Ivett Oszkó. The exhibition is planned to be arranged in several Hungarian institutes in the near future as a traveling exhibition. The exhibition is to be open from 20 September until 31 October at the Liszt Institute, the Hungarian Cultural Centre in Stuttgart.
