Being both cinematographer students at the time they fled the country with a few cans of film rolls. These rolls was footage that they and others have shot with shocking images of the Russian invasion. They found protection in the United States where they became famous with their cinematographic work. Vilmos Zsigmond was a regular member of HAA from 2013 until his passing in 2016. László Kovács was given the title of posthumous honoris causa by HAA in 2018.
