The Hungarian Academy of Arts (MMA) regards it highly important to acquaint the Hungarian audience with contemporary Chinese art and culture based on traditional elements as well. So on the invitation of MMA the painting and calligraphy exhibition of the Chinese National Academy of Arts (CNNA) is arriving to Budapest with the title From the East…, and it can be seen between 12 April and 31 May 2017 in the centre of MMA, the Vigadó.
In connection with the display MMA and CNNA is holding a conference on 11 April 2017 from 10:30 with the title Contacts… in Vigadó in the reception hall in front of the library. The two institutions are signing a cooperation agreement before the conference in Vigadó.
Fekete György, President of MMA and Tan Ping, Vice-President of CNNA are initialling the document.
The unity of calligraphy and traditional Chinese painting has manifested itself in the Eastern art of China. On the occasion of this exhibition the artists of CNNA are bringing the forms and mentality of the calligraphy of the Far East to Budapest, Hungary. The basic aim is to transfer the unique values and ideas of Chinese art overcoming space and time; and to show the future of art through the deep dialogue with the art of Hungary lying at the intersection of East and West.
At the exhibition opening at 17:00 on 10 April the works of nine Chinese artists are to be seen: watercolours, calligraphies and seals. A long scroll of 18 meters is also to be present at the exhibition, on which the joint work of Tian Liming and 16 other artists can be seen with lines of poetry. The aim is to show the contemporary as well as the traditional and ancient seal art and calligraphies with characters that were carved on prophesy bones of more than three thousand years. (Beside the art works one can read explanatory texts.) This is the first time that this exhibition showing the threefold unity can be seen in Hungary.
The nine artist are: Guan Jun管峻 | Jiang Hongwei 江宏伟 | Liu Wanming 刘万鸣 | Luo Pengpeng 骆芃芃 | Tian Liming 田黎明 | Xu Jun 许俊 | Yang Tao 杨涛简 | Yin Hailong 尹海龙| Zhao Jiancheng 赵建成

The most significant event from the perspective of cultural diplomacy is the signing of a cooperation agreement between the two academies on the initiative of MMA. The agreement is to be signed by Tan Ping, Vice-President of CNNA and Fekete György, President of MMA before the conference at 10 am on 11 April 2017 in Vigadó. The agreement consists of the possibilities of organizing joint cultural programs in the future, e.g. exhibitions, conferences, concerts.
The Chinese National Academy of Arts (CNNA) was founded in 1951, and it is the only Chinese nation-level academic institute integrating art research, art education and art creation. In the recent decade CNNA has built academic connection and exchange with more than 50 countries throughout five continents of the world.

The conference linked to the exhibition is intended to give insight into the traditional culture of China. Lecturers are: dr.
