Which are the most important Hungarian films of the 21th century? That was the question world-renowned cinematographer and MMA presidium member Sándor Sára asked his fellow members and requested them to vote. The final list consists of 53 films of the last sixty years of Hungarian cinema. This list may of course be debated in certain respects, but it's for sure that this selection shows the vitality and grandness of Hungarian cinema. The 53 films have been divided into eight thematic categories.These are the following: 1. In quest of István Szőts, 2. Life of peasants – slavery, 3. Power and the individual, 4. In a lighter tone, 5. The journey of the soul, 6. Without retouch, 7. Private history, 8. In the storm of history.
