György Vashegyi is the new President of MMA

Conductor and regular member of MMA, György Vashegyi was elected as the new President of MMA at the 10 October general assembly for renewal in Vigado, the centre of MMA. He is taking over the office of the President from 5 November 2017. György Fekete, who led MMA for two periods for six years, was given the title of honorary president.

Varaždin Baroque Evenings with Hungary

The Varaždin Baroque Evenings is the most prominent music event of central Croatia and it was founded in 1971. This year it is going to be between 22 September and 5 October and the quest country is Hungary. Among the Hungarian performers are the Purcell Choir and Orfeo Orchestra with conductor György Vashegyi, Xaver Varnus and Balázs Barnkopf, the Pannon Philharmonic Choir and Orchestra, István Kónya lute player and Baroque Orchestra Savaria with artistic leader, Pál Németh.

Two-day conference on applied art and design in Kunsthalle

MMA's Research Institute of Art Theory and Methodology (MMKI) organized a conference on applied art and design entitled Concepts and Connections in Műcsarnok (Kunsthalle), the institution of MMA on the 4th and 5th of May on the occassion that the exhibition of the National Salon series is displaying Hungarian applied art and design on a large scale.

National Salon 2017 opened

Having opened on 22 April 2017, the new exhibition of the National Salon series organized by MMA and its institution, Műcsarnok (Kunsthalle) and entitled All Around Us is offering an overview of design and applied art of the past decade in eight significant fields.
The exhibition can be seen until 13 August.

Hungary and China - a cultural cooperation

MMA signed an agreement on cultural cooperation with the Chinese National Academy of Arts (CNAA) on 11 April in the centre of MMA, the Vigadó (the document was signed by Tan Ping, the Vice-President of CNAA and by György Fekete, President of MMA), and one day before that a unique exhibition of Chinese painting and calligraphy opened in Vigadó Gallery entitled From the East... and on 11 April a half-day conference took place on Chinese art as well as the relationship of Chinese and Hungarian culture with the title Contacts.
