György Vashegyi is the new President of MMA

Conductor and regular member of MMA, György Vashegyi was elected as the new President of MMA at the 10 October general assembly for renewal in Vigado, the centre of MMA. He is taking over the office of the President from 5 November 2017. György Fekete, who led MMA for two periods for six years, was given the title of honorary president.

Ballet performances in memory of 1956

The Szeged Contemporary Dance Company and the National Dance Theatre introduced themselves jointly in Bulgarian capital, Sofia on 23 October paying homage to the 60th anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 with two pieces entitled Dance Suite and Rite. These events in the memorial year has been also supported by MMA.

Open-air exhibition for the memory of victims of volleys in 1956

Members of MMA were paying homage to the 60th anniversary of the revolution and freedom fight of 1956 with works of fine art in two cities in the provinces. The works were commemorating the victims who were killed in volleys in several cities in Hungary.

Theatrical play about Hungarian Jeanne d'Arc in Warsaw and Budapest

The Hungarian National Theatre is celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Revolution of 1956 with a play about Ilona Tóth, a hero and martyr of 1956 written by Hungarian writer, Andor Szilágyi.

Concert in Tarnów commemorating 1956

On the 60th anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 a large-scale concert by Orfeo Orchestra led by György Vashegyi, a corresponding member of MMA took place at Centrum Sztuki Mościce in Tarnów on 19 October. The concert, which was also supported by MMA, was part of the Hungarian cultural season in Poland. The soloist was outstanding fortepiano singer, Petra Somlai.
