The Hungarian Academy of Art is presenting itself with a grand-scale exhibition in Beijing at the Today Art Museum. The display, which consists of works of fine, applied, design and folk arts is lasting from 14 May until 10 June 2018. A year ago we received the painting and calligraphy exhibition of our brother institution, the Chinese National Academy of (CNAA) at Vigadó, the centre of HAA. Fulfilling the invitation of the Chinese partner, the Hungarian art scene can be seen in the well-known contemporary exhibition venure of the capital, and the exhibition of HAA is a selection of major works of recent years.
Unique premier in Vigadó
The Symphonic Orchestra of Hungarian Musicians Beyond the Border premiered in Vigadó, the centre of MMA on 21 August in the framework of the Zoltán Kodály memorial program. György Vashegyi, conductor and member of MMA had the idea of establishing an orchestra which can unite the outstanding musicians living in areas separanted from Hungary in consequence of the Treaty of Trianon in 1920.
The first 40 years
A large-scale selection form the unique international collection of the International Ceramics Studio, Kecskemét can be seen at Vigadó Gallery from 18 August until 8 October. The exhibition is a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the studio, highlighting and documenting the four decades of the collection from the early works of the Nomadic Generation to the more recent directions in contemporary ceramic art.
The Latitudes of Art
An exhibition of Italian and Hungarian fine artists opened on 9 August at Vigadó with the title Latitudes of Art - Le latitudini dell' arte. The display is a kind of return of a Hungarian exhibition in Genova in the Doge's Palace organized by the Art Commission of Genova. The organizer is the Association of Hungarian Fine and Applied Artists and the sponsor is MMA. The curators are Márta Simonffy, Viana Conti and Virginia Monteverde. The exhibition can be seen until 8 October.
Festival history through photographs
At the Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Center a large-scale and unique exhibition opened on 11 July and can be seen until 31 August from photographs of Imre Benkő - a regular member of MMA - as well as of the so-called Rockstar Photographers documenting 25 years of the Sziget Festival from 1993 to 2016.
