Imre Benkő's subjective documentarism

The exhibition entitled True Visions in Műcsarnok (Kunsthalle), the institution of HAA is presenting six decades of art work of photographer, photojournalist and regular member of HAA, Imre Benkő through two hundred and fifty, mostly black-and-white photographs. The exhibition, curated by Zsuzsanna Tulipán, can be viewed between 23 February and 7 April.

Interview with Tamás Juronics

The new dance performance entitled Credo, based partly on the famous music piece by Avro Pärt and choreographed by Tamás Juronics, the famous Hungarian choreographer, director and former dancer was premiered in Szeged by the Szeged Contemporary Dance Company as well as in Budapest at National Dance Theatre on 22 and 28 February 2019 respectively. Tamás Juronics, a corresponding member of HAA answered our questions before the performance in Budapest.

Screenings from the history of Hungarian animation a second time

Hungarian animation goes back to a hundred years with outstanding works. HHA's screening series took place for the first time last autumn on ten occasions, and is continuing this spring from 18 March until 27 May on every Monday on fifteen occasins at Premier Kultcafé, Budapest. As film historian Zsolt Pápai pointed out in the periodical, Filmvilág in 2007, "several of the most glorious chapters of Hungarian cinematography have been written by animators".

Program of Ervin Lázár announced

On 18 February 2019 the Hungarian government announced the Program of Ervin Lázár named after the outstanding Hungarian writer, Ervin Lázár (1936 –2006), who was a posthumous honorary member of HAA. Although he wrote a novel and a number of short stories, he is best known for his tales and stories for children. He became a so-called household name among children and their parents. The heritage of Ervin Lázár was taken care of by his widow, Zsuzsa Vathy, a late member of HAA until her unexpected death in 2017. The program is to provide one free attendance at a theatre, dance, circus and music performance or at a special zoo for all the students at junior schools in Hungary every year.

Hungarian animation in Tehran

The 11th Tehran International Animation Festival (TIAF) was held from 3 to 7 March 2019. A member of the jury was Ferenc Mikulás, a non-academic member of HAA. A Hungarian delegation was also present at TIAF comprising of personalities from HAA, Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest (MOME), the Media Council of NMHH (National Media and Infocommunications Authority) and Kecskemétfilm studio, which is the originator and main organiser of the Kecskemét Animation Film Festival (KAFF).
